I thought the Colorado legislature had actually grown a pair of balls when it allowed citizens with carry permits to carry on college campuses. College campuses that are “gun free zones” have been proven to be anything BUT in the past several years and a target rich environment to madmen bent on destruction. But now I’m rethinking their level of common sense and commitment to the oath they swore considering they are pushing forward a bill restricting gun rights. They come standard with limited mag capacities, registration, blah, blah, blah…… the same old tired and ineffective crap used to win the “I’m all about public safety” badge. These measures are bad enough, but when I read about them reversing the right to protect yourself on college campuses and the speeches given by these idiots, especially Rep. Salazar, I’m very close to calling for Coloradoans to start hanging them from the highest tree.
In a speech Friday to the Colorado legislature regarding gun laws, Salazar (D) noted, “There are some gender inequities on college campuses. This is true. And universities have been faced with that situation for a long time. It’s why we have call boxes, that’s why we have safe zones, that’s why we have the whistles because you just don’t know who you’re going to be shootin’ at. And you don’t know if you feel like you’re going to be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around, or if you feel like you’re in trouble and when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop around at somebody.”
WOW! So according to this dipshit, women are not only unequal to a man in physical ability, they’re incapable of making a good decision on whether to defend themselves with deadly force from rape or worse……… Way to be in touch with your feminine side, Mr. Salazar.
Next on the list of candidates for the Todd Akin award for Gender Sensitivity is Rep. Paul Rosenthal (D)
Paul had this to offer to the discussion: “Another point that was brought up was that a gun is the only method a person, a student has at self-defense. There are other methods. There’s mace. What about a taser? The buddy system. Other methods at self-defense: judo, or what have you. There are other methods, its not just the only method out there known to man today is a weapon, a firearm.” True, there are methods of non-lethal force available. None are as effective as a firearm, but with a few months of training, I don’t see why some of these methods listed wouldn’t work against an assailant. But what about several assailants? After all, wasn’t there a couple of girls just a few years ago at CU who accused part of the football team of gang-raping them? I suppose they didn’t carry enough mace, or didn’t have enough batteries in their taser to take down an entire team. Wait! Maybe they could’ve mixed up their knowledge of Judo with the buddy system and they could’ve taken them all out like an episode of Batman!
………. but because of gender inequity, that pretty much rules out judo, right, Mr. Salazar?
Then, we have this gem from Colorado State Senator Jesse Ulibarri (D) on the subject of mass-shootings: “When Congressman Giffords was shot … people who were unarmed took that person down when he stopped to reload. And so there are other ways to address violence …. very valiant folks stood up to defend themselves and protect themselves, and they did it with ballpoint pens.” REALLY? Apparently, all of these legislators heard the speech on the effectiveness of stabbing a workplace shooter with a pair of scissors.
And the fun doesn’t end there. We all know colleges are hotbeds of “progressive ideology” and they want everyone disarmed, physically and mentally so that those pliable young minds are more susceptible to some professor’s moonbat ideals of utopian society, but even the University of Colorado has some suggestions that are simply moronic. Here’s a few:
“Kick off your shoes if you have time and run”? Right, because all college girls wear high heels on their way to class. I only have this to offer in response because I’m running out of creative ways to describe how inept and idiotic some people are……..
To sum up, I would like to take my absolute favorite from the above list and direct it to these legislators who, in the interests of “public safety” and partisan politics, are about to create more VICTIMS in what is supposed to be a safe environment of higher learning:
9. UNDERSTAND THAT SOME ACTIONS ON YOUR PART MAY LEAD TO MORE HARM.
p.s. (For those of you have been following this story, you’ll know that Colorado has a democrat majority in both legislative houses and the governor is a democrat as well. Partisan politics played a huge role in this fiasco. That being said, there were only 3 democrats in the state house who saw the dangers of these measures and voted against it. Those 3 men and women should be commended for standing by what’s right, and not what Joe Biden told them to do for the good of the party.)
